本課程旨在於介紹護理知識組成的要項(elements)及理論發展過程。引導學生探索及了解護理理論發展史、理論家背景、理論的意義及功能，並進一步探討護理理論與知識建構、教育、臨床實務的關係。透過分組引導，每組學生深入研討至少一個護理理論。以應用批判性思考及分享學習成果方式達成本課程學習目標，進而培養學生應用護理理論於研究、教育、和臨床實務的能力。

　　The purpose of this course is to introduce the elements of nursing knowledge and the process of theory development. Students are led to explore and understand the evolution of nursing theory, background of theorists, and the significance and functions of theory. The relationships among nursing theory, knowledge construction, education, and clinical practice are further discussed. Through team discussion leading, students are required to discuss at least one theory in depth. Using critical thinking and sharing the learning outcomes, the objectives of the course are achieved that finally helps to cultivate students’ ability of applying nursing theories into research, education and clinical practice.
